Working While PregnantKeeping your job while you are pregnant can be a little tough to do at times. You will want to be sure that you are taking good care of your baby and yourself first, not your job. While you might need to hang on to your job for financial reasons, you might want to lighten the workload while you are pregnant depending on what your job might entail. If you have a really stressful job, considering lightening the workload might be in your best interest. If you ever did not need to be under stress, it would be while you are pregnant. Try talking to your boss and letting them know that you are pregnant, and are needing to cut back on the stress level. Hopefully you will have an understanding boss that will allow you to do so. Manual labor while you are working might also be something that you should be concerned about. If your job description has you lifting really heavy things, you might want to see about taking a different position with the company while you are pregnant. Many large companies will cater to pregnant employees in this way, and will find a job that you can do that does not require heavy manual labor that could put you at risk. If you do have a job and have recently found out that you are pregnant, you will want to let your employer know this. Before long, you will be making frequent trips to the restroom, and you would not want your employer to think that you are slacking in any way. There may even be some mornings where the uncontrollable morning sickness will get the best of you, and you will need to come in later. Explaining your situation to your boss is the best thing that you can do so that you will not lose your job. Working while you are pregnant is possible. You will just need to take the necessary steps to make sure that you have a healthy pregnancy. This might mean some changes in the workplace, but if that is what is means, be sure that you do what you need to do to carry the healthiest baby you can. |
