What Does Baby See?Date Added: April 17, 2006 Newborn babies actually cannot see much at all. Most of them are not able to focus on anything for the first couple of months. The colors that a newborn baby can see are actually bright vivid colors. While they still are not able to focus and see the object that is this color, the color they will be able to see. Your baby will not be able to focus well until he is about 3 months old. Because the bright colors are the first colors that he will see, you will want to be sure that you have bright colors that around him in his nursery. This is also the reason that most baby toys are brightly colored. Once your baby is able to focus, he should be able to see many other colors as well. Also he should be able to see you, and what you look like as well. You will notice this happening at about 3 months of age. Your child may even stare at you, and will be able to see the silly funny faces that you are making at him to get him to laugh. At about 6 months old, your baby should be able to see clearly. Maybe not as clear as an adult, but clear enough to know one lady is his mommy, and the other is not. You will still want to buy bright colored toys and things for your baby to see at this age, because those will be the colors that he will be drawn to. Once your baby has reached one year of age. He should be able to see fine, and see features such as your nose and your ears. He should also be able to show you where they are by looking for them. Every baby is at a different pace with their development and skill level. Just because the baby next door can see his mommy clearly and point to her eyes and nose, does not mean that yours should be able to as well. If your baby is slow learning and seeing clearly, just mention it to your pediatrician and they will tell you the same, or tell you when you should start to worry about it.
