When Teething BeginsIf you are wondering when your baby will start teething, trust me, you will know. Your baby will want to chew on everything, and it will feel so good when you massage and rub your baby's gums with your finger. You may even notice that your baby is a little grumpy when they go through the teething stage, as well as running a low grade fever. This is perfectly normal, and most babies go through this. When you are preparing for your baby to go through the teething stage, you will want to be sure that you have everything that your baby will need. Teething rings as well as baby orajel will be good to have on hand. Stocking up on these things and being prepared for the special day that your baby starts cutting his first tooth is a great idea. When you are buying teething rings for your baby, you will want to be sure that the teething rings are baby safe. You can purchase the hard plastic teethers, and you will also find that there are some available with the liquid inside of them that can be frozen. You can choose to buy some of each, just be sure that there are no small parts that will come off of the teether, and that the teether is made for a baby. You will also want to check the liquid teethers that you freeze for your baby periodically to be sure that your baby has not chewed a hole in it, and that the teether is holding the water inside. You should never give your baby a frozen liquid teether with something inside of it other than water. Be sure that you read the packages and make sure that the teethers you buy are baby safe. You will also find that when your baby is teething that they will love the biter biscuits on the baby food aisle at your local grocery store. Buying these and giving them to your baby will be great if they are at that eating stage in their life. However, you should not give something like this to your baby if they are not eating baby food yet. If your baby is able to pick up cheerios and eat them, they should be ready for the biscuits to soothe their gums and as a tasty treat. Whatever the age of your baby, you should watch them carefully when they are chewing on the biscuits, to be sure that they do not chew off too big of a bite. Once your baby has reached the teething stage, you will want to be sure that some things do not go into their mouth. Your baby will be getting to the age that everything they see, they will want to put in their mouth. For example, when you and your baby are at the grocery store, and your little one is riding in the cart, you will want to be extra careful that your baby does not ben d over, and bite on the cart handle where you will put your hands to push it. You never know who was pushing that cart before you, and you sure do not know what was on their hands. While we like to think that everyone has good personal hygiene habits, we really do not know for sure. Keeping an eye out for things like this will help keep your baby from getting a hold of some germs that may not be good for him at all. Teething is a special time in you and your baby's life. While it may be a little hard to get through at times, be sure that you use the teethers and gum medication to help your baby feel better. You will be so excited to see that first tooth when your baby smiles at you, and that will make getting through this tough time worth it. |
