With a few helpful tips and devices, you can baby proof your home to keep your little one safe. Locks, covers and guards are some ways to start that process.

First decide what areas the baby will be in. Will he be in the family room where bare outlets abound and coffee tables with sharp corners await? In the nursery, think about the outlets that should be filled with plastic so the child cannot put toys in them. This will prevent accidents. Are there sharp corners on the furniture? This can be covered with guards to protect little heads from a blunt trauma. Locks, covers and guards should be considered for every room in the house.

Locks for cabinets come in many different styles. Some are easy for the parents to install and require no screws or drilling. Other locks for cabinets just go through the handles and tighten up. All will be beneficial in keeping your baby safe. Children love to play in cabinets and explore the home. Locks, covers and guards will ensure the safety of those precious little ones.

With locks, covers and guards there are so many ways to keep the child out of that room once they learn to open doors. Many door locks are on the market. They range from plastic devices to put on the handle to prevent the child from turning the handle but allows for the adult to open the door easily. This can be a great help when you have curious little ones and want them to feel some freedom in the home. There are chain door locks and patio door locks. Whatever needs your home has, you can find doorknob safety for your home and protect your children. There are also finger guards that keep the child from slamming the door on his fingers. This is great where there are siblings in a play room also. You can find many types of guards for sharp corners or coffee tables. This will prevent a head injury if the infant is learning to walk. In the kitchen, where there may be corners on the countertops at head height, this would be a great place to adhere a corner guard to protect the child when running through the house. Place the locks, covers and guards before you experience the emergency room and stitches, not after.

We recommend using outlet covers verses outlet plugs. But if you decide to use outlet plugs BECAREFUL. As your little one gets a little older, he/she maybe able to remove the outlet plug out of the outlet and you guessed it, it ends up in your little one's mouth, posing as a choking hazard.
