Cradles

Cradles offer your baby a feeling of security. When your infant is born, the drastic change in available space is a bit frightening. That is why your newborn loves to be swaddled. A cradle offers your baby a close space and rockers on the bottom so your baby can be lulled to sleep like he was when you were carrying him.

Many cradles have locks on the rockers so that you can make the cradle stationary while your newborn sleeps. Cradles are small, which makes them portable enough to move from room to room before you place your infant in for sleep. Never lift the cradle and move it with your infant inside. Always pick up your baby and carry them separately.

You will find that cradles come in many styles and colors and the quality and durability of construction can be picked, too. If you want to pass your cradle on to another family member or save it for your child, select quality materials. No matter what your need is, you will find a cradle that will make your nursery a haven for your newborn.

Nervous about online shopping? You shouldn't be.

•  Lock your cradle in its stationary position after your baby falls asleep.

•  Once your baby can roll over or lift her head, you should prepare to graduate your infant to a full size crib.

•  Check your cradle to be certain that the screws, bolts and other parts that hold joints together are tight. A once a week check is a good idea because your cradle has moving parts.
