Bottle Cleaning & BrushesTaking the best possible care of your baby is something that every new mother wants to do. If you are not breastfeeding, then chances are you are bottle feeding. Feeding your baby things that are good for him is important, and so is making sure his bottles are clean before and after each feeding. Many new mothers will boil their newborns bottles between uses. This process helps to sterilize the bottles and the nipples so that their baby is not getting any type of bacteria that could be harmful to them. If you are boiling and sterilizing bottles, that is great, but it is still very important to clean them thoroughly before doing so. There are a couple of different ways that you can clean your baby's bottles. Fill a sink full of hot soapy water, and submerge the bottles and nipples into it. Let them soak for a minute, and be sure that they all fill up with hot soapy water. Once that is done, take a bottle cleaning brush, and thoroughly clean each and every bottle with it. Pay special attention to the bottom and around the edge on the bottom of the bottle. If the bottle had discarded milk sitting in it for a while, it may even require more soaking to get it all to come out. For the best results, and knowing you are cleaning your baby's bottles well, after each feeding take the bottle to the sink, and rinse it thoroughly. That way the next time you get ready to wash dishes, the bottle will not have milk stuck inside of it. They will be much easier to clean. Also, while cleaning the bottles with the brush, make sure that you also clean the nipple thoroughly as well. Most bottle brushes will have an end for nipple cleaning, so that you can get inside of the nipple and clean it really well. Don't forget about the bottle ring that holds the nipple in place either. As that is also a place that milk likes to hide. Once you have given the bottles a thorough cleaning, they are ready to go into the dishwasher, or you may boil them. All newborn mothers have their specific ways of sterilizing them, so do whatever makes you the most comfortable. Making sure that your baby's bottles are clean before you feed them will prevent them getting sick on sour or bad milk. This is a very important part of taking care of your baby.
