Safety is a serious concern as accidents are the leading cause of death for children. As many of these deaths could easily be prevented, it is important to consider safety in your household. We have provided some tips for child proofing your house:
- Use covers on electrical outlets to prevent electric shock and latches on cabinets and draws
- Install anti-scald devices to shower heads and faucets and set the temperature your water heater to 120 degrees F to prevent burns and scalding
- Use safety gates, window guards, and safety netting to prevent falls, especially down the stairs
- Use door knob covers and door locks to prevent your little one from from entering rooms were there are hazards/not child proof
- Install smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and fire extinguishers in case of a fire of carbon monoxide poisoning
- Use corner and edge bumpers from preventing injuries on sharp corners and furniture
- Use door stoppers and holders to prevent fingers being pinched/broken
