Create your baby's space!Your baby's nursery should be a haven that is relaxing and soothing. Many nurseries are painted in pastel colors depending on the baby's gender. However, research indicates that in infancy, your baby does not recognize such soft colors. To fully engage your baby in the nursery, you could use bright primary colors, instead of traditional powder pink and blue and yellow. Many infant toys are designed in black and red because these colors are almost immediately recognizable by an infant. You probably won't want to use those colors for the basis of your nursery, but do use them to accent the space. The more time that you put into engaging your baby's imagination, the more that you will encourage your baby's cognitive and imaginative development.
You also need to provide for enjoyable and successful feeding, nuturing and bonding with your infant. Soft textures and cozy comforts, like blankets, throws and pillows will help you feel comfortable while you feed or rock your newborn. Placing pillows under your arm while you cradle your baby allows your arm to rest. During feeding, you are connecting with your baby by providing the most basic necessity for growth and life. These moments are important for both of you and the more time that you spend nurturing your bond in your nursery, the more you will appreciate the comforts that you added to it.
