Humidifiers and vaporizers are things that you might need for your newborn if he is prone to allergies. This helps with coughs as well. When you cannot breath well, chances are you will cough.
Humidifiers and vaporizers can be purchased at most retail stores. They are affordable and well worth the price at that to be sure that your baby can breath well when he is sick, or allergic. Your baby will rest better, and so will you knowing that he is getting the freshest of air that is good for him.
Buying a humidifier or vaporizer as a baby gift or baby shower gift is a great idea. You will find that any new mother will love such a gift, and will be so happy that her new baby will breath so much better at night when sleeping in his nursery. Usually a new baby does not need both. One or the other should be just fine.
