Breast FeedingBreast feeding your newborn provides the best protection against illness and childhood diseases. Your breast milk is full of nutrients. The bonus of breast feeding is that it transfers many of your immune systems defenses to your baby; these important defenses are provided to your baby in colostomy. The very first milk to ooze from your breast is colostrum; it is thick, but can be clear and ivory in color. This first dose of milk is packed with nutrients and antibodies that will support your newborn's overall health for the first months of his life. Once colostrum is used up, your breasts fill with milk. The milk from your body is easiest for your baby to digest. Your newborn will have fewer tummy troubles if you breast feed. It is not by any means a cure all, but Nature's milk is the best first choice for your baby. When you begin to breast feed, your nipples will be sore. It will take a bit of time to get used to the sensations. Your nipples will get thicker and toughen so that breast feeding doesn't hurt. Try to breast feed and ask as many questions as you need to when you are learning the technique. Your nursery nursing staff is their to assist you in becoming a successful breast feeder. Use all of the resources at your disposal to become a comfortable and confident mom while you are breast feeding your newborn.
