Dads 101Fathers are special to all babies. Every child needs a strong father figure in their life when they re growing up. If you are a new dad, you are probably wondering how you can help out with the new baby. All new moms need a break at one time or another, even if it is only to soak in a bath tub full of bubbles. While the father may be feeling a little lost without moms motherly instincts, he will need to know how to take care of his new baby. Fathers, when you are fixing your baby a bottle, you will want to be sure that you warm it up. However, you will want to be sure that you do not get the milk in the bottle too warm. The best way to check this is by squirting the milk onto the inside of your wrist to make sure that you did not overheat the bottle before you give it to your baby. Another thing that fathers should know when they are keeping their daughter is the proper way to clean a little girl. When you are changing your daughters diaper, and are wiping her clean, you will want to wipe from front to back. Doing this will help keep down the chance of infection, and this is just the correct way that you should clean a baby girl's behind. Fathers you will want to pay special attention to the way the mother of your child is getting your baby to sleep. If mom is usually the one that puts your sleepy baby to bed, she probably has a special way of doing this that the baby has become used to. Knowing that special technique that mom uses will help you get your baby to sleep much faster, instead of trying something that the baby is not used to, and does not realize that it means sleepy time. Something else that a father might want to know is the best way to burp your baby. Some baby's are really easy to burp. However, there are also some that take a special kind of coaxing to get that burp out of them so that they feel better and do not end up with a stomach ache. You might want to try burping your baby on your shoulder, your lap, or even holding your baby up in a sitting position, and burping him that way as well. All fathers should take an active role in caring for their baby. You should pay attention to what mom is doing, and the special way she has with the baby as well. You never know, you just might learn something. |
